Japan Toy Safety Standard

Japan Toy Safety Standard (ST Standard) was revised in 2016. This new revision comes into effect on 1st April 2016 and will mainly affect Part 1 and Part 2;-

ST Part 1

  • Revised exemption list.
  • Revised toy requirements for projectile toys.
  • Additional requirements for mouth-actuated projectile toys such as darts and arrows.

ST Part 2

  • Definitions revised to be identical to ISO 8124-2:2014.

ST Part 3

  • Age clarification regarding formaldehyde (limits remain the same).

Japanese Food Sanitation Law

Enacted in May 2003, Japan Food Sanitation Law is required for all designated testing items and expands over numerous categories.
